The ice cream is well with the wait. I would recommend reading up on this place a bit before visiting so you can understand the value and taste it brings. When you walk up, there's a line out the door and it's very obvious where the line is. We waited for about 10-15 mins and got up front real fast. Spoiler Alert: As part of the experience, they give you a taste of every flavor on the menu so you won't miss the experience. I ended up getting the Saffron+ Vanilla Beans + Pistachios flavor mixed with the Matcha+ Pistachios because I love Pistachios! The servers were are super friendly. The vibe feels a bit like 90s nostalgia. The inside is simple and clean with some dry cleaners clothing hanging. Well worth the wait!!
I scream, you scream, we all scream for An's Dry Cleaning! This place is the best ice cream I have ever had in my life, not to mention all the recognitions and awards this place has. This dry cleaning style ice cream shop has unique, delicious and flavorful flavors that rotate once in a while. All there ice creams are perfect temperature and texture. Staff are all so outgoing and kind and allow you to also sample all of them, which I highly recommend. I got the Coppola: Cream, Chocolate Cookies, Nutella. This was their version of cookies and cream and it did not disappoint. It was rich, creamy, cookies added a nice crunch, Nutella added the creamy, slight nutty flavor. Second scoop was the Termeh: Saffron, Pistachio, Vanilla. This was also delicious. It was smooth, silky, and sweet, pistachios added a nice crunch.
A must try! Because it was my first time, I got to do a flavor tour, which entailed samples of each of the available flavors. They do this for all patrons, so don't be surprised if your wait is long! It's definitely worth the wait though. I loved all of the flavors, but I ended up getting the matcha/pistacchio and the coppola. Aside from the great flavors, the service here is top-notch, everyone is so friendly and seem so passionate about the ice cream they serve. Parking can be a bit challenging, so it's mostly/all street parking, but don't let it steer you away from trying!
Excellent customer service and all of the flavors were tasty and unique. I waited for around an hour in a line that stretched out the door which is absolutely bonkers. The workers introduce each customer to each flavor and give a sample tour if it's your first time. Sashiko (using matcha from Paru and pistachio) and Vicuna Wool (goat cheese, apricot, saffron) were my favorites. They have a rotating menu so flavors may be different. The place itself is small; they have standing tables inside and limited outdoor seating (if you don't mind the cold and/or the envious eyes of the people still waiting in line)
An's Dry Cleaning is NOT a dry cleaning shop Previous space was owned and operated by a dry cleaner and the new owners of a gelato shop decided to keep the shop name and also keep some of the dry cleaning motifs as decor. More importantly, the gelatos were named after Fabrics and/or Fabrication. Self described: 'Small, modern storefront offering creative & rotating flavors of small-batch gelato scoops & cakes.' This a long overdue review since I've been a fan for over a year. In my first visit, I wasn't impressed by what I witnessed: no gloves worn by the staffers/servers, the gelatos weren't covered and were exposed to everything air bourne, and no tasting tour. Fast forward, todays visit, I was cordially greeted by Noah, who slipped his hands into a new pair of gloves, and began with the tasting tour of the gelato flavors with details on ingredient contents and prep methods was really enlightening and fun Every flavor was unique and if I could, I would have ordered every flavor but that's just wishful thought, as my tummy just can't accommodate all these yummy gelatos. Really like the mixology madness mind the kitchen genius in the kitchen had when details of the ingredient content were blended is simply Brilliant. No need for an excuse to go to the dry cleaners ...An's a definite must! Recommend
Finally got to try the #1 ice cream shop in America!! Of course, there's a line at every hour of the day but it's so worth it! The line is long because it is highly recommended for each party to sample their current rotation of flavors. Fortunately, it moves by pretty fast. We came just in time for the lunar new year flavors in February. We got a double scoop in a waffle cone with these flavors: Pho: It tastes like pho broth, but it's moreso the spices used in pho that's mixed into the delicious gelato. It's so interesting and delicious! Lame: We loved the crunchy texture from the pretzels! I'm usually not that big of a fan of too much chocolate, but this was the right amount! Great ambience, I have to get some of the merch before I leave SD! There's limited seating indoors so we enjoyed our ice cream standing at a table. Parking sucks so we had to drive around to find street parking. An's gelato is incredibly affordable, I can't wait to come again!
Delicious Go now! Tips: Be ready to pay to park but worth it. Tiny adorable shop. Outside there are a few tables and benches to sit. We went in a sunny afternoon and was a perfect date spot. Good people watching. Odd-unique flavors you would never choose but let me tell you they are all DELICIOUS !!! My husband is not adventurous when it comes to flavors and he loved them all! lol THEY want you to try each flavor. Small menu. Quality ingredients. This is a fun spot! Workers are so kind and informative! We had this guy in the photos below who was so patient and positive and it looks like he loves his job! Check out my menu board photo for unique flavors, they change weekly so it's a surprise! I can't wait to see what they have next! I will be back and highly recommend it! I wish they had stools to sit at inside.
Probably my favorite ice cream shop of all time. Innovative flavors and extremely friendly staff members. I also really just like the concept of this place. I have visited this location twice and both times I ended up getting one of their vegan flavors because on the it's the best vegan ice cream I've ever had . They switch out their flavors a lot, so be careful not to fall in love. I still regret not picking up passionfruit Thai basil, which was only available during the lunar New Year's season.. The last visit I tried their matcha pistachio, vegan ice cream which honestly changed my life. You can't tell that it's vegan/water-based. Also, really love their canvas ice cream, which is in olive oil rosemary ice cream that they top with salt and pepper. Absolutely delicious !
Small gelato shop located in the University Heights/North Park area of San Diego. They took over a dry cleaning space and decided to keep the name so the decor and flavor names all fit in the theme. Yes it's slightly kitschy, but it's also a lot of fun! The service was great. I wondered why there were long lines to get in, but I realized that they offer you a flavor tour of all their flavors before you choose. This being my first visit, I opted for the tour. I ended up ordering a mix of the canvas and cashmere, which is their olive oil & rosemary and goat cheese & honey flavors, respectively. I also taught my gelato with some black sea salt, which brought the flavors together. This combo was truly delightful. It was the best of both worlds in terms of sweet and savory. I rarely ever get gelato, but I have to say this is probably some the best gelato I've had. I can see why it's so popular. The next time I go back, I wanna try some other flavors but now that I've already had a tour I won't do it again so the line will move quicker lol
